The interactive network graph shows how the most enjoyable tools to visualize data are linked, according to dataviz practitioners.
It is based on the open-ended responses to a prompt to name up to three tools you most enjoy using for data visualization. All the mentioned in different forms tool names were unified and made a list of 138 unique entries.
Every bubble represents a dataviz tool. The larger the bubble size, the more respondents find the tool enjoyable to use. Tools that are listed together in one answer are linked by a line. The more such connections are found, the thicker the line linking them. Point over the bubble to highlight all tools linked, click it to see details.
This work was made as a contribution to the State of the Data Visualization Industry 2023 Challenge, using the survey data.
It was selected for first place in the Exploratory category 🎉
Short descriptions of the tools were taken from products landing pages, as well as from Wikipedia.
To decide on the categories of tools, I was guided and inspired by the exhaustive Data Visualization Resources catalogue curated by Andy Kirk.
