The X-Files Infographics

Charts all about The X-Files were made in April 2025 as a contribution to the #30DayChartChallenge.

I've long wanted to take a broader look at the story of The X-Files and order the events of the series for myself for better understanding. So I was happy to take the opportunity to work with the data related to the show within the challenge. The main sources were Wikipedia, IMDb, and The X-Files Wiki. As a result, I bravely completed half: 15 out of 30 charts.

However, I worked more with metadata, such as rating, directors, screenwriters, etc. But overall, I'm happy with the first attempt. And I got some ideas to expand on this topic later 👽

Also I set a challenge for myself to practice and get better with Svelte and Figma. Thus, working with data around The X-Files allowed me to spend less time searching for data and processing it, and focus more on improving my technical skills instead.

On average, it took 3–4 hours to work on one infographic: build a data visualization prototype using Svelte and D3.js, then drop the SVG in Figma and refine it there. But if at first I needed more time to read the documentation and watch tutorials, then closer to the last layouts I focused more on the design. Although it's still difficult for me to completely replace Abobe Illustrator in my workflow, after this challenge I feel more confident with Figma and can easily edit quite complex layouts now.

Charts were made as a contribution to the #30DayChartChallenge, Edition2025.

The challenge is open to anyone who wants to create a data visualization based on a daily prompt, no matter which data source or tool they use.
